Love Your Space: A Valentine's Guide to Spatial Planning
Valentine’s Day is usually about chocolates, flowers, and date nights. But at Morganize It Moving, we think there’s another important relationship worth nurturing this February: the one you have with your home.
The way we arrange our furniture and plan our rooms, often called spatial planning, can significantly impact how we feel, how we interact with our families, and how much "peace" we find at the end of a long day. This year, we’re challenging you to fall in love with your space all over again.
The "First Date" Approach to Your Living Spaces
Think back to the first time you walked into your home. You saw potential, light, and a fresh start. Over time, we often "settle" into layouts that aren't actually serving us.
Small Action: Try the "Conversation Circle." Instead of pointing all your furniture at the TV, try angling chairs toward each other. By prioritizing human connection in your spatial planning, you’re creating a space that invites love and conversation rather than just passive screen time.
Creating a "Sanctuary of Silence"
In our busy lives, we all need a corner where we can breathe. Loving your space means giving yourself permission to have a dedicated area for rest.
The Reading Nook: Find a corner with good natural light, add a comfortable chair, and keep it a "tech-free zone." Try a small table that has a bookshelf incorporated, like this one from Wayfair.
The Entryway Reset: Your entryway is the "first impression" of your home. If it’s cluttered with shoes and bags, you’re starting your time at home in a state of stress. A simple bench and a few hooks can transform that chaos into a warm welcome.
Spatial Planning for "Self-Love"
How you move through your home matters. If you’re constantly bumping into a bulky coffee table or navigating a "bottleneck" in the hallway, your home is creating friction in your life.
Clear the Pathways: Ensure there is at least 30-36 inches of "walking space" between major pieces of furniture. This literal breathing room reduces daily frustration and makes your home feel much larger and more intentional. (If you want to get really nerdy with this, the ADA has accessibility standards regarding accessibility routes that could help you in your home!)
Lighten the Mood: Use mirrors to reflect the beautiful Colorado sun into darker corners. A well-lit home is a happier home!
A Gentle New Chapter
If you find that no matter how much you rearrange, your current space just doesn't fit your heart anymore, it might be time for a change. Whether you are downsizing to a cozy new condo or moving into a home with more room for your growing family, we are here to help you transition with care.
